The Blueline Laundry Achievement Awards

Blueline Laundry’s annual staff awards coincide with the International Day of People with Disability thanks to the long history that Blueline Laundry has in supporting those working with a disability, and the benchmarks we set as one of Australia’s prominent disability employers.

Our awards celebrate the achievements of our supported employees, and those supporting employees, at work and in the community. Our awards recognize that every member of our diverse workforce plays a pivotal and valued role in creating what we believe is Tasmania’s most inclusive work environment. People with a disability work alongside people without disabilities, and they learn from each other within our fully integrated workplace.

The annual awards events are also a chance for us to thank our customers and supporters who, by choosing to partner with Blueline Laundry, are making a significant contribution to the social fabrics of the community in which they live and work.

The awards categories celebrate the full depth of diversity and achievements across all of our staff, and ensure that all employees have equal opportunity to have their achievements recognized.

History of Charles Mansfield

The Charles Mansfield Achievement Award is named after a gentleman who came to Blueline Laundry in around 1990 to initially, believe it or not, wind up the laundry business and close down the factory.

After spending some time at the laundry he realised the opportunities that could be gained from the laundry as a way to help people with disability gain employment and become part of the community. Charles worked with the management at the time to create what we have at Blueline Laundry today. In recognition of the work conducted by Charles Mansfield, an award was created in his name.

The Charles Mansfield Award is presented to a worker participating in our supported worker program who has shown through their work, their dedication and willingness to learn, the attributes that were envisioned by Charles Mansfield when he developed the Blueline Laundry business model that has grown to what it is today.

A number of criteria are assess to decide the award recipients and it is always a difficult task to sort the final nominations and choose our winners. Some of the things that we consider include:

  • How much enthusiasm the person shows

  • The quality of their work

  • The speed in which they work

  • How they have adjusted to work

  • How they interact in the community
